The Eden Holme moored at the old Launceston wharves on the
Nort Esk River. The Launceston Customs House is in the background. The Eden Holme
was a 61.5 m barque of 827 tons gross, constructed in 1875 in the UK by Bartram Haswell
& Co.
The barque was of iron construction, with a 9.8m beam and 5.6m draft. The vessel
carried general cargo. |

 The Eden Holme wreck lies at
Latitude -41.05°, Longitude 146.73°. The wreck is protected.

The Eden Holme came to grief on Hebe Reef at the mouth of the
Tamar River on 7 Jan, 1907. While waiting for a tug to enter the Tamar River the vessel
drifted onto the reef and could not be freed.
Pilots certificate suspended.Wreck lies on SE corner of reef in 5m water. Iron plating
and frames are visible but very little artefact material. G.H.Dulling was the Master at
the time of the wreckage. |
